During her career at Western Health, Mia developed her skills in neurodevelopmental surveillance and intervention, including assessment of infants at high risk of neurological conditions using validated assessment tools such as Prechtl’s General Movements Assessment and the Hammersmith Infant Neurological Examination.
Mia has worked with children with complex birth and medical histories, neurological conditions, genetic conditions and orthopedic conditions such as plagiocephaly and torticollis. She also has experience as a Grade 2 Physiotherapist providing care to babies in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit and Special Care Nursery.
Mia has a warm, friendly nature and a strong commitment to lifelong learning and family centred care practices. She is passionate about evidence-based clinical care and providing clinical supervision to junior staff and students, taking on the role of Paediatric Student Coordinator at Western Health where she completed clinical supervision training. When she is not working, Mia enjoys spending time with her husband and their lovable spoodle, Wally.
