Lucy is passionate in paediatric physiotherapy which remains strong over her 25 years of experience working with children and their families. She completed her Paediatric Training Program at The Royal Children’s Hospital and worked in a range of paediatric specialties. Her passion developed in the areas of developmental assessment and early intervention for infants and young children with or at risk of neurological impairment.
Lucy completed her Doctorate at The University of Melbourne in 2013, focusing on postural control and development in preterm-born preschool-aged children. This research further developed her interest in supporting infants and their families during their various stages of development. Lucy has extensive experience working within the Neonatal Intensive Care Units at both The Royal Children’s Hospital and the Mercy Hospital for Women, supporting babies and families.
Throughout her career, Lucy has presented nationally and internationally and has held numerous professional development and teaching roles with the Australian Physiotherapy Association, The Royal Children’s Hospital and The University of Melbourne. She currently teaches paediatrics within the Master of Physiotherapy at Victoria University.
Lucy also founded and ran a private paediatric physiotherapy practice for 12 years. This experience broadened her understanding of clinical practice within the community as well as developing programs and services for optimal outcome in delivering paediatric physiotherapy. It strengthened her passion for teaching, supporting and mentoring physiotherapists developing their skills and confidence in paediatric practice.
Lucy is passionate about working with infants and young children and helping them reach their developmental potential. She strongly believes in empowering and supporting families and working collaboratively with parents and caregivers to achieve the best outcomes for their child. Her clinical approach is informed by many years of experience and evidence-based knowledge, while remaining family-focused.
Outside of work, Lucy enjoys reading, gardening and travelling, as well as spending time with family and friends. Exercising and spending time in nature help keep her happy and balanced.
